Should tarot cards be wrapped in silk?

Silk wrapping is a tradition from older occult books ('preserve the deck's energy') — treat it as aesthetics, not requirement. A soft cloth does protect corners and finish, which is the real benefit. Cotton, silk, or the original box: all fine.
